[KITKAT in Japan]

Assalamualaikum dear brothers and sisters,
Alhamdulillah, according to our confirmation to Nestle Japan's call center via email and phone on March 13th, 2015 (16:30 JST), Kitkat is safe for Muslim consumption Inshaa Allah.
Nestle Japan states that they do not have a Halal certification yet (they confirmed via email). Nevertheless, all Kitkat products are made from vegetable-based ingredients without any animal-based ingredients. This includes emulsifier (nyuukazai / 乳化剤), oil (abura/油, yushi/油脂), margarine (マーガリン), and butter (バター). This applies to all Kitkat production lines, including the Otona no Amasa (オトナの甘さ) series (all flavors).

This confirmation supports the previous confirmation (on December 2014) by Serijaya Indonesia, which also states that Kitkat is (Inshaa Allah) Halal. Thus, we conclude that Kitkat is safe for us Muslims Inshaa Allah.

NOTE: it is advisable though that we reconfirm the ingredients list, because a few Kitkat flavors contain rhum (or other alcohol-based liquors) and/or gelatin.
